It is with deep sadness and loving appreciation that we share with you the passing of our founding partner Sidney J. Silver, Esq. Sid was an icon in the greater Washington legal and business community. His guidance and support of his clients influenced all aspects of DC life. From the restaurants and bars we frequented, to the clothes we wore, to the furniture in our homes, Sidney was a driving force and key advisor to the largest and best known DC based retail, restaurant, service, manufacturing and distribution-based businesses, facilitating their growth and evolution for over 50 years. He was a vigorous advocate and supporter of numerous charitable organizations, serving as a board member and President of the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington where he was instrumental in facilitating the relocation of the historic 6th Street synagogue and the development of the Lillian & Albert Small Jewish Museum. He also served on the board of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, being inducted into their Hall of Fame and awarded a Bronze Medalist for his service.
Sidney received his baccalaureate degree and MBA from Lehigh University, and his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University. He was a member of the Virginia and DC Bars and of the DC Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Estate Planning Counsel. He served as Chairman of the National Law Alumni Board and on the Board of Visitors of the Law Center and the Board of Governors for Georgetown University. He also served on the Board of Directors of Lehigh University Alumni Association and the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Business and Economics of Lehigh University.
We are humbled and honored to have had him as a leader, mentor and friend. We will strive to honor his legacy.
